Jannik Vestergaard's Leicester City future is said to have been decided. The Denmark international defender had an apparent falling out with Foxes head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy a while back. Now the centre half is facing an exit from King Power Stadium this summer. You could say the one-time Southampton player only had one enjoyable season at LCFC during his almost four years on Filbert Way. Is his time finally up?

According to several reports over the previous few months, Danish centre back Jannik Vestergaard fell out with Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. The former Southampton man hasn't actually played under the Dutchman since back in February. The problem between the Foxes manager and his defender is supposedly similar to the issue van Nistelrooy has with exiled midfielder Harry Winks.

Winks and Vestergaard reportedly declined to adhere to the ex-Manchester United interim manager's demand to stay at the Seagrave overnight prior to an important away match. Unfortunately and possibly to the detriment of the team, the pair of unwanted LCFC footballers decided to remain living approximately and respectively 100 miles from the training centre.

To some of us in the Blue Army fan base, it feels strange and inappropriate for professionals to opt not to buy into the club, nor the city that welcomes them!

Is current Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy dictating Jannik Vestergaard's future after ill feeling?

Reports from the player's home country claim he and the City hierarchy could 'jointly negotiate' the cancellation of his contract ahead of the summer. LCFC bosses are ostensibly (though believably) 'looking to cut costs' at the King Power.

Clearly van Nistelrooy's stance on Vestergaard is also driving this. Whether or not the 48-year-old remains at Leicester in 2025/26, he could help engineer the 32-year-old's departure. I don't consider either potential exits problems whatsoever.
