Vexed Leicester away fans tell Cifuentes what he needs to hear

One win in eight is simply not going to cut the mustard for a club with Leicester City's apparent ambitions. Not good enough. Underwhelming. Inadequate.

I have generally stuck by the Foxes' latest head coach, Marti Cifuentes. He is a likeable chap who has said the right things to the Blue Army fan base as well.

But those qualities are not enough either. The general consensus among the support is, if I have gauged correctly, that it is slightly too early to sack the Catalan boos. However, the ice beneath his feet is increasingly thin.

Certain elements have begun to upset the LCFC faithful. First of all, results: obviously having five draws from six outings is far too uneven form for promotion. Recent consecutive losses really put the City gaffer under the spotlight.

Though Cifuentes is suffering for chairman Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin's mistakes overall. The former Queens Park Rangers man knew this wasn't a straight forward job upon arrival. A potential points deduction could still derail the entire season if the man in charge manages to turn it around.

He'll have to do that quickly though, because fans are also becoming disillusioned with his team selection. Players like Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew, Wout Faes and Luke Thomas are not favoured amongst spectators. And rightly so!

Following the loss at the Den, the Leicester contingent were not best pleased. Leicester Mercury stated that the ex-Queens Park Rangers man was 'met by the angry travelling' support as the gaffer headed over at full-time.

Cifuentes was met with 'boos and hand gestures', not to mention that very few fans applauded. So what did the Catalan say of that situation?

"I feel especially my own anger,” he said. “I’m the first one to be angry. I’m angry with the result and I’m angry with the performance. I understand the frustration. The fact it was 3,000 in the away end today, it says a lot about the support. I’m extremely committed to try to give them something back. We knew from the very beginning that the situation would not be easy. We have been speaking about this rebuilding process where it will take time to change things.

“But at the same time I totally understand their frustration because we need to do better."
