Certain fans of struggling Premier League outfit West Ham United are currently undergoing a rather comical meltdown over prospective signings. The situation arose after Championship side Leicester City reportedly hijacked what the Hammers considered almost a done deal for a proposed striker transfer. The East London side possesses a few very good options up front, such as Niclas Füllkrug, Callum Wilson and Jarrod Bowen, in a makeshift yet brilliant capacity. While the Foxes squad currently contains only two mediocre possibilities at centre forward in Patson Daka and auxiliary attacker Jordan Ayew. Oh dear!

Therefore, and especially with a war chest said to be up to £50 million which may or may not be utilised, City should throw everything at a main man or focal point for their attacking line. And the person Graham Potter's colleagues are targeting could be stolen by the East Midlands team. Former Scottish footballer Kyle Macaulay is West Ham's chief recruitment specialist. And the player in question was reportedly top of Macaulay's list of targets. Should LCFC capture the baller ahead of WHUFC, sections of their fan base would consider it a "new low". Which is pretty ironic being as they are seemingly heading our way with a whimper and a deathly quiet stadium. What's the score?

West Ham United fans' humorous meltdown as Leicester hijack Idrissa Gueye transfer

Parts of the Hammers faithful are particularly agitated due to Leicester's reported interest in the same striker they want to sign. But their support have got more serious worries than us hijacking earmarked footballers: possible relegation.

"Missing out to Leicester, if Macaulay is still keen on the talented star, would be nothing short of embarrassing."

Anyway, whilst West Ham fans are concerned with their own "fall from grace" (a slight amplification on reality), Leicester could and should go for Gueye. The impressive Metz striker notched seven goal involvements in 18 Ligue 2 appearances as an 18-year-old last season. He could be exactly what's needed at King Power Stadium.

"Leicester City are said to have identified Metz teenager Idrissa Gueye as their potential new striker as they look to strengthen."
