With friendly fixtures just a few weeks away, we are gearing up for another challenging Leicester campaign. So when will this season's Championship fixtures be announced? And most importantly, when do the Foxes' star players and backup brigade begin pre-season training at the wonderful Seagrave facility?
Preseason
Preseason is just around the corner; you could say that we are currently in English football's offseason. The Premier League schedule and match-ups for 2025/26 were just released on Wednesday morning. And some early thrillers were announced. But, sadly, none of this concerns Leicester City Football Club this year. Hopefully the EPL will be our problem again one day!
The East Midlands team are now back in the Championship. The King Power outfit face not just the difficulty task of evading tier two's lesser standing and returning to the Premier League - but stabilising too. To that end, when are this season's fixtures made public? And, with friendly games already penciled in versus Peterborough United, OH Leuven and Fiorentina, when do Foxes stars and up-and-coming ballers return to Seagrave? They've all probably been on the beach though they shall begin necessary training again very soon!
When Championship fixtures are announced
As Rob Tanner of The Athletic said very recently, 'the clock is ticking' at Leicester. And the LCFC journalist means it for many reasons including, as I see, existentially. The club is at threat unless it organises and improves.
The main challenge and aim this term is reaching the English Football League Playoffs or attaininan automatic promotion place. Albeit that outcome will be harder to realise this time around in my opinion.
The season starts between August 8-10. Fixtures are released on Thursday, June 26 at 12:00pm.
Leicester City stars begin training
Tanner stated the following about returning Foxes:
"...the players who haven’t been on international duty are set to return to pre-season training by the end of this month."The Athletic
