Who actually was Leicester's 2024/2025 Player of the Season?

Other than the Leicester City supporters for sticking by their club and watching the Foxes every week, there weren't too many bright spots. Maybe for sentimental purposes and the fact Jamie Vardy scored his 200th goal, the honor would go to the skipper.

Even then, it was not quite the production level from a striker one would want to see to be considered for that designation.

There is a clear issue when thinking of who to potentially select as the best player of the season. To be the least controversial and pick the one that would likely receive the most consensus, Mads Hermansen would likely be at the top of most people's lists.

Not only did the Danish international look like a proper Premier League player, but the interest of other EPL or other top flights in other leagues is well-documented. Certainly the play of Hermansen has been admirable in what has been largely an impossible task.

It does say a lot about how the year went when everyone's mind immediately goes to a keeper, however.

If needing to pick a field player, in this case for the runner-up, there are even more issues.

Those who played a lot of minutes obviously did not do well given the opportunity, and those who provided some late spark did so in a limited capacity.

That being said, there are two players who deserve some recognition. They may not have played enough; there is not a large enough sample size for either of these players to usurp Hermansen, but they did well to raise their stock during the latter stages of the season.

Luke Thomas is someone who has stood out toward the end and appears to have a lot of potential as a left-back or left centre-back. The academy product may very well have been out of his way of the club. He has proven those doubting his place in the East Midlands wrong and has put together a number of positive outings for the Foxes.

The match that stands out was against Liverpool when Thomas was matched up directly against Mo Salah. Although City narrowly lost on the day, Thomas more than held his own against one of the best attacking players in the world.

Rising talent for Leicester did well toward the end

Finally, Jeremy Monga deserves a shout. Still in school, the youngster has shown an early ability to adapt to the demands of the EPL and looked like he belonged on the pitch. To be honest, he at times appeared to be one of the better forward options.

Again, it was only in limited minutes, and certainly Hermansen is City's POY. Despite all of the troubles and potential even worse difficulties that the club will soon face, Monga and Thomas did well within the roles that were asked of them.
