The preseason schedule is well underway, and Leicester City finally have a manager in place. At the moment, LCFC are on an offseason tour of Austria in order to gain sharpness and togetherness. They'll also enjoy some game time. On this occasion, Friday, the Foxes actually compete in two non-competitive matches.

First of all, the East Midlands outfit contest Ukrainians Karpaty Lviv at the Sportzentrum Friedberg ground. That fixture kicks off at 10:30am British Summer Time. Secondly, Marti Cifuentes' men meet Köln; this encounter begins later on in the day at 4pm BST. The venue for this one is Merkur Arena.

But why are Leicester playing in two friendlies on Friday? And which of the personnel at the Catalan's disposal will play where?

So far

So far this summer, City have already played three friendlies. Peterborough United were defeated first. Leicester legend Andy King took charge of that outing and the following win over King Power sister club Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

Cifuentes' initial match at the Foxes helm was versus Zalaegerszegi from Hungary, which occurred last Saturday. Of course, this was another uncompetitive victory for the visitors.

Explaining why Leicester City are playing two teams on the same day again this year

The LCFC side are currently at their camp in Stegersbach, in the district of Güssing. Their week in mainland Europe ends with what is described by lcfc.com as "a double-header friendly".

For the occasion, or occasions, the LCFC squad splits into two starting lineups along with substitutes. The official website continues by saying that this method enables "a large group of players to gain beneficial pre-season minutes."

Of course, Cifuentes can gauge his roster much more comprehensively if they play for longer from the beginning of games. The club hint at fitness, which is vital. Yet I believe this is truly an audition in front of the new gaffer. I suspect the stronger XI will take on Köln.
