Leicester City boss Marti Cifuentes made a few changes to his starting lineup on Saturday against Midlands rivals Coventry City. The visitors, who are themselves a somewhat of a standout tier two team, gave the Foxes some problems. Though it was the home side who had the most clear-cut chances and should have claimed victory. Two points escaped LCFC on the day, with the Sky Blues obtaining a point to take back to Coventry Building Society Arena, a mere 24 miles away.

First of all, Cifuentes was forced into one alteration after playmaker Aaron Ramsey was dismissed versus Oxford United. Jordan James, a skilled midfielder, was the replacement. The Wales National Team representative was deployed slightly higher than is best to utilise his skill set. Elsewhere, Wout Faes replaced Caleb Okoli, and we can reveal the main reason for that. Yet the absence of one Fox in particular was a noted discussion point. Again, we can disclose why Leicester starlet Louis Page was dropped from the XI.

Why Leicester City teenager Louis Page was left out of matchday squad entirely

Page was initially left out of the Oxford United outing due to fitness. Upon being quizzed about Page being dropped or unused for the Cov fixture, Cifuentes described the situation as a "luxury nightmare". He means that the King Power club are ironically fortunate to have such selection dilemmas.

"Today, yeah, he needs to be disappointed with me but I’m sure he will show in the week that he’s a very good player."

The former Queens Park Rangers head coach clarified that the England Under-18 international was fit. Cifuentes confirmed that it was a technical decision. He added that Page will be important this season; the manager believes he can develop youth.

How two Foxes secured places in XI

According to Leicester Mercury writer Josh Holland, the reinstalled Harry Winks is going nowhere. In addition to that call, the reporter suggests that Wout Faes has solidified his position at centre back now too. I concur with the gaffer in this respect, and Holland:

"...two positions may have been tied down for future games. Winks won’t be dropped from midfield after his performance and there’s an argument that the centre-back partnership of Jannik Vestergaard and Wout Faes will remain."
