Leicester City’s young star Demarai Gray has been tipped for an England call-up following his impressive displays in the U21 side.

Demarai Gray has been tipped to join Leicester teammate Jamie Vardy in the senior England squad.

Aidy Boothroyd, England’s U21 interim manager in the absence of Gareth Southgate, has backed Gray to earn himself a place in the senior side.

Gray made his move to the East Midlands in January following a move from his hometown Birmingham City and has been a regular feature for Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League winning side.

During the current international break, Demarai scored the only goal in the England’s U21 win over Kazakhstan.

Talking of Gray, Aidy Boothroyd said:

More from Leicester City News

"“I can remember 18 months ago, Demarai came to Toulon with us as a little skinny thing from Birmingham and he has grown, physically, mentally and he has matured really well,”"

"“When you look at some of the players who have played in the under-21 group, they have pushed on to bigger and better things in terms of their clubs and at senior level as well.”"

"“Jesse Lingard is a good example – he was playing for the under-21s, was out of his club side, got back in his club side, was outstanding against Malta and has put himself right there in Gareth’s thoughts.”"

The England U21 side are set to face Bosnia & Herzegovina at Walsall on Tuesday, a game that will be unlikely to be held in high esteem.

A game that will be considered easy, Gray will be hoping to get into the starting line-up and back on the scoresheet.
