Leicester City have struggled in many instances to keep their backline in check this season and there lack of depth is even more troubling.

This season is not the best example of how good at the back the Foxes can be as skipper Wes Morgan and partner Robert Huth have worked hard but there is a lot of football for Leicester around the corner.

With that in mind the depth of the central defense is starting to come into question as recent run outs for Marcin Wasilewski have not produced as well as they would have liked and Luis Hernandez has been utilized more as a rightback than as a central defender.

Young defender Liam Moore looks more and more like he is not going to be in the future plans for manager Claudio Ranieri and he could also be making a change in January.

The congestion of the holiday season is soon to be upon the Premier League and mixed in fixtures for the UEFA Champions League and the upcoming start of the FA Cup rounds will see Morgan and Huth needing a break at some point.

Leicester are believed to be on the lookout for another centerhalf in the January transfer window

More from Transfer Rumors

and according to the Mirror they are set to battle West Ham United for Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho.

The Frenchman has proven that he can be a greatly effective leader at the back and his performances for Liverpool in their UEFA Europa League campaign last season were exemplary.

However, his attitude has been rather suspect throughout his Liverpool career. Brendan Rodgers seemed to be able to tolerate it at times, but Jurgen Klopp has not got the patience nor the will to deal with a player that is truly talented, but cannot fall in line with the plans for the club’s future.

With Sakho believed surplus to the Reds requirements, the 26-year-old has already thought to have agreed with the club for a departure with mutual consent.

There is not a market value number that has been thrown about yet in any of the recent rumors but he is believed to be valued in the range of £10 million according to Transfer Market.
