Reports state that Leicester City have agreed a fee for Genk’s midfielder Wilfred Ndidi however foxes boss keeps his lips sealed on the proposed deal.

Reports in the media are stating that Genk’s Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be on the verge of a January move to the Premier League champions following an agreed deal of up to £17m.

The 19 year old is a hot prospect in Belgium, having played 78 games already for Genk, mainly in the foxes much needed defensive midfield department.

Wolfsburg were also reported to have been in for the 19 year old however Ndidi turned down the German side, saying that he would rather play in the Premier League than the Bundesliga.

Leicester City will be looking to get the deal done as quickly as possible in order to bolster their midfield as much as possible following the departure of their midfield engine N’Golo Kante along with the injury woes of Kante’s replacement Nampalys Mendy.

To add to Mendy’s injury issues, Danny Drinkwater is to serve a 3 match ban for violent conduct, Matty James has only just returned to the bench after being injured for over a season and Daniel Amartey has been out of form having not played a solid game since early in the season against Swansea.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Despite multiple sources reporting Leicester City’s interest in the midfielder, boss Claudio Ranieri is keeping his lips sealed on the matter.

Speaking the media, he said:

"“I can tell you it’s only speculation and I don’t talk about players coming in or going out,”"

"“I’m sorry, I don’t speak, I’m only a coach. I am focused only on Saturday.”"

The 19 year old is a versatile player, having spent the majority of his career so far in defensive midfield, he is also more than capable at both centre-back and right-back.

Should Wilfred sign for Leicester City, foxes fans will hope that the Nigerian will settle into life in the East Midlands quickly through the help of fellow countryman Ahmed Musa.
