Judging by the most likely Premier League relegation candidates, the bookies’ assessment is an 8th place finish for Leicester City. Is this accurate?

One or two more quality additions to the squad before Thursday’s transfer deadline and Leicester City would finish 7th in the Premier League this season. Possibly securing Europa League qualification; similarly to Burnley last campaign. Without the influx of major talent, bookies astutely predict 8th position.

Slightly worryingly for the Blue Army, these odds also correlate to a 14/1 chance of relegation. Although, these are mere predictions – albeit by the finest experts – we have seen major errors before. Especially the ‘Incredibles’ of Leicester City’s title-winning side at 5000-1. They certainly did not live up to their tag of favourites for the drop to the Championship.

Yet, the Foxes have not made a marquee signing or one which, on paper, rates up against what a Riyad Mahrez achieved or is capable of. But I tip James Maddison to have a fabulous season – putting his name on the premiership map.

According to Mirror Sport, Leicester City have a well-rounded squad, but need to find an adequate Mahrez replacement. That may come with new signing and fellow Algerian, Rachid Ghezzal. Promising.

What the bookies foresee

At the moment the bookmakers on average favour Manchester City to triumph once again with Liverpool second. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur make up 3rd and 4th spots. With Chelsea then Arsenal rounding of the top six. Current favourites to be relegated are Cardiff City, Huddersfield and Watford. This leaves Leicester in 8th place prospectively; one position behind Everton. Odds and listings are correct as of Sunday August 5. Check out the latest musings at oddsshark.com

Is Claude the right man?

Claude Puel is attempting to end the poor turnover rate and aimless slogging forward of the ball by defenders. While developing a slick, fast, passing side with ample possession. For this style switch, he needs time. If this transition is mastered and new attacking signings Maddison and Ghezzal are successes – 7th place and a semi-finals cup appearance is reachable.

Next. Why we needed Januzaj. dark

Well, Leicester City face a rigorous opening test this term, they travel to Old Trafford to play Manchester United. In addition, manager Puel stated after the Valencia friendly that England World Cup stars Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire will miss the game due to prolonged absence and fitness levels. Despite Manchester City starting John Stones and Kyle Walker in the Community Shield; mainstays of England’s line-up.
