According to multiple reports, Leicester City is making available a transfer budget of £200 million for new manager Brendan Rodgers. Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson is a summer target.

Let’s just recap the last six days: Leicester City unacceptably lost their fourth successive match at the King Power Stadium. The mood had turned distinctly negative on Filbert Way.

A quality, underrated Crystal Palace side triumphed 4-1; hammering the final nail into Claude Puel’s proverbial coffin. He was dismissed by vice-chairman Top Srivaddhanaprabha the very next day.

Subsequently, only one day of managerial speculation emerged. Because Tuesday, which was match-day, saw the arrival and announcement of Brendan Rodgers as Leicester manager. Leaving Celtic in a great position, but with ill-feeling amongst many disgruntled Hoops supporters.

Rodgers witnessed his new team beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1, the goals coming from Demarai Gray and Jamie Vardy. Consequently, the Blue Army is buoyant once again, with a seemingly rosy horizon.

Leicester City funding, targets

On Thursday morning a newspaper article from The Sun gave the faithful more good news. With speculation over the amount of money which will be made available for the Northern Irishman’s incoming players when the transfer window opens – an area he has failed to impress in before, following some big named/priced flops:

"LEICESTER will back Brendan Rodgers with a bumper transfer-kitty.The Foxes boss, 46, is expected get up to £200million over his three-year contract at the King Power."

Wow. That amount is completely necessary and appropriate if the club’s ambition is to be realised.

More from Leicester City News

A report in the Guardian says Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson is the main target for Leicester City in regards to forwards:

"“…first in [at Leicester this summer], if he [Brendan Rodgers] gets his way, will be the quicksilver Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.”"

Wilson is a potentially perfect long-term replacement for Jamie Vardy; replicating many of the former England striker’s assets. While arguably adding another couple: being stronger and having better link-up play attributes.

If the Cherries man chooses another club, the Foxes should definitely go for Aleksandar Mitrovic. Especially if Fulham are relegated, as the fee will prospectively decrease through a contract stipulation.
