Youri Tielemans gives an update on his Leicester City future
Youri Tielemans has discussed his possible Leicester City future, with certain indication leading Foxes of Leicester to believe he may sign permanently. Hopefully it’s not just wishful thinking on our behalf.
A touch of class and absolute directness are elements provided by Youri Tielemans in the Leicester City midfield. And let’s be honest, that injection of quality was desperately needed in the middle this season, following the fielding of far too defensive lineups.
Tielemans is a particular player of note in Europe: making his Champions League debut at age-16. In addition he returned from a very successful and heavily involved World Cup tournament with Belgium in Russia over the summer. Pedigree, indeed.
Many onlookers think a huge key to Leicester’s progress hinges on signing players like the 21-year-old on a permanent basis. They are correct, due to multiple aspects. One is having that type of brilliant young players attracts and encourages other adept professionals to join the roster. Utter brilliance on the ball is another.
Expect more big name or promising signings as the East Midlands club attempt to achieve the ambition of breaking into the top-six Premier League sides. Owner Top Srivaddhanaprabha also wants the team consistently qualifying for European competition. A £40 million valuation is obviously a lot, but with the player’s skills it seems in keeping with the market prices.

Will Tielemans sign for Leicester City?
There have certainly been some positive signs of intent from the Belgian of late. Firstly, Leicester Mercury quote him as saying:
"“I’ll be back [at AS Monaco]this summer and we’ll see. I am open to everything [transfer wise]. For Monaco, but also for Leicester or another team. Whether I have to cost €45m? That could be [his valuation]”"
So the former Anderlecht wunderkind has assured us observers that he is at least considering Leicester City. Phew – with his options and talent let’s be honest he will be eyeing already established ‘big-six’ outfits domestically or major mainland European teams. One of which he already belongs to.
Encouragingly for the Blue Army, Tielemans also told LCFC Live that he is “enjoying Leicester.” Not to mention the fact that the loan Fox enjoys playing under Brendan Rodgers because of the Northern Irishman’s “attractive attacking football”. This opinion arose while Tielemans spoke to Sky Sports from the Belgium international camp.
Time will tell if the highly rated starlet becomes a full-time Fox – us Leicester faithful should certainly keep our fingers, toes, arms, legs and anything else you can think of crossed! Tielemans may not break into the elite sides that burst with world-class choices in central midfield; at the King Power Stadium he is almost guaranteed a starting XI position, as well as the adoration of the fans.
