Aleksandar Mitrovic is a good transfer option, but the fee is high
Leicester City will actively pursue another necessary incoming striker this summer. Relegated Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic is on the Foxes’ radar.
10 goals and two assists isn’t exactly a tally which sets the Premier League on fire. Although when you learn that it’s Aleksandar Mitrovic’s record while plying his trade with this season’s hapless Fulham, it speaks at a louder volume. It’s absolutely no secret that Leicester City require a target man, could the Serbian be the answer?
An exodus will occur at Craven Cottage before the London club begins 2019/20 in the Championship, following their recent relegation from the English top-flight. Mitrovic will leave, there’s no two ways about it. However according to The Times, the very experienced 24-year-old does not have a contract release clause:
"“Fulham are quoting an asking price of £40 million for Aleksandar Mitrovic eight months after signing him from Newcastle United for £22 million.“The Serbia striker, 24, will seek to leave Craven Cottage this summer if Fulham are relegated from the Premier League, but because there is no release clause in a contract that has more than four years remaining, the club are in a strong negotiating position.”– Matt Hughes, The Times"
So it looks like Fulham’s reportedly requested fee for Mitrovic will be £40 million, which seems high for a player of his calibre. Additionally he may be on the periphery at the King Power Stadium if he signed. If it’s a choice between spending that budget on him or Youri Tielemans, them the Belgian gets this writer’s vote.
Yet with the inflated market prices, would Leicester City attract another proven premiership goalscorer for less? Probably not. Not to mention prices for quality Serie A as well as La Liga forwards possibly costing the same amount.

Fitting in at Leicester City
An aggressive ability to hold up the ball aerially or when grounded makes this player an exceptional option; prospectively contrasting and complimenting Jamie Vardy as a backup.
Interestingly, the fact that the Serb may not be content with simply being an understudy is another bonus for Leicester: it creates intensely competitive competition for one place – through hopefully superb performances.
That theory stands with Brendan Rodgers’ penchant for using a single player upfront. If a front two is employed then both may combine excellently through differing repertoires.
According to a report in the Leicester Mercury Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Chinese clubs are also interested in the striker, along with the Foxes. Additionally the outlet also speculate that Islam Slimani will be joining fellow teammate Shinji Okazaki out of the door at the King Power.
