Second half

Well, Huddersfield came out of the blocks quickly and with goalscoring intent. However, Leicester took the initiative from their wonderful counter attacking capabilities. Ricardo combined with Demarai Gray then played a fine ball towards the far post. In came Vardy to score his 103rd Foxes finish.

That made it 2-0 to Brendan Rodgers‘ outfit. And provided the No.9 another notable feat: putting him level with the legendary Leicester striker and purveyor of crisps Gary Lineker on the all-time scoring chart for the club.

While that glory was short-lived as Soyuncu slipped at the corner of the box and then gave a penalty away. Though on second and third replay viewings it appears the Turkish international’s foot touched the ball before taking the man. Aaron Mooy smashed home the spot kick making the scoreline 1-2.

Shinji Okazaki entered the fray as Jan Siewert’s side again started to control a fair amount of the action. Set pieces were a particular danger for Rodgers’ men as the physicality of Huddersfield’s tall and strong players come together as a unit.

A mention should go to the Terriers’ support who are fantastic and backed their team throughout. Alas, just as it looked like they could get the equaliser, the West Yorkshire team capitulated. This was possibly down to the fact that Siewert switched his system to a more attacking one. Once more this allows the proficient Foxes breakaway moves to engage.

Following a more intense contribution and involvement, Maddison was pulling more strings. A dead ball expect, he then had his chance in a similar area to where he struck a majestic free-kick against Burnley last month. Unsurprisingly the 22-year-old obliged the Blue Army and bent a sublime ball in for a lovely goal. His seventh of the campaign.

All of a sudden Leicester reigned over the ball more whilst 3-1 up. Subsequently Vardy was felled in the box rather desperately and duly dispatched his spot kick. Placing him ahead of Lineker to the MoTD pundit’s displeasure as revealed in his comical quote tweet of FoL, pictured above. And it was game over at 4-1 for a particularly comfortable victory in the end.
