Chelsea are currently in talks with Leicester over Ben Chilwell
Chelsea are already negotiating for Ben Chilwell with Leicester City, if this report is to be believed. A move is not expected until the end of the season.
It’s been a tiresome, long, drawn out courtship – but now it appears that Leicester City star Ben Chilwell will finally get his transfer to Chelsea. Now, the defender hasn’t made any direct comments about it, apart from generally saying he’s content being a Fox. However, a report on Friday claims the Blues are already in talks for the defender.
Meanwhile, Pensioners and Foxes fans have had their say: with the majority of Chelsea supporters, on social media at least, seeming underwhelmed with the supposed switch, to put it kindly. While the majority of the Leicester faithful are happy to lose this season’s underperforming Chilwell.
Although some of the Blue Army, including one of our writers, believe it would be a mistake to sell the left-back for multiple reasons, outlined here.
Leicester City apparently negotiating with Chelsea
In Friday’s Express was the story at the heart of this article; in their piece it is suggested that an £80 million pricetag is currently being discussed, as negotiations between the two clubs have started.
Now, the £80m valuation seems high, and a little unrealistic; especially when you consider the two transfers already completed – Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner – at Stamford Bridge. Additionally, Leicester City, in a self proclaimed sense, are no longer a ‘selling club’.
Boss of the London outfit, Frank Lampard, is supposedly willing to offload left-sided players Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri to fund the deal.
