There have been several reports, including from English national sports media, that Leicester City are set to sign French starlet Thanawat Suengchitthawon.

Tuesday’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion is best forgotten, not just for Leicester City but the Seagulls, too. In a game with many shots – 21 overall – but little attacking quality, a point apiece seems a fair-ish result. Well, thanks to Kasper Schmeichel’s very good penalty save.

In truth, though, the pace and skill exhibited in both Foxes matches is reminiscent of lower league football at present. However, with the COVID-19 crisis, lockdown and distancing rules disrupting training regimes – slow, uninspiring play is excusable.

It would ironically be a worse scenario if supporters were actually in the grounds paying to witness the mediocre scenes. Hopefully Brendan Rodgers sorts his Leicester side out, as fitness is not the only concern: focus as well as desire also appear to be lacking, which could cause major issues for the Northern Irishman.

Leicester City set to sign French starlet

Meanwhile, away from on pitch problems, transfer rumours are heating up; Leicester City are linked to a plethora of players. There are some decent prospects, a few unnecessary buys, one or two stars, along with a superstar.

This week the agent of Thanawat Suengchitthawon, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder of Thai decent who has citizenship in France and plays for AS Nancy-Lorraine B, claimed his client has signed for the East Midlands outfit. Impressively, Suengchitthawon has appeared multiple times for France Under-17s, which implies great pedigree.

Daily Mail suggested a couple of days ago that the King Power side are in negotiations with the out-of-contract, versatile player, who can be deployed as a defensive-midfield or as a No.8. Yet in an interview with Eurosport, the starlet’s agent, Erick Noubissie, says Suengchitthawon has signed for three years with City already.
