According to reports, Manchester United will attempt to scupper rivals Manchester United’s and Chelsea’s bids for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

For some reason Manchester United have reportedly joined the transfer race for Leicester City star Ben Chilwell. He is, of course, already being tracked by Chelsea and the other Manchester club, City.

While the Blues and Sky Blues require a left-back of the England man’s capacity, it seems particularly strange that the Red Devils would desire his services at all. For one reason, they have two better left-sided defenders on their roster already, in my opinion: Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams.

Williams, a United academy graduate, is in the mould of the new, incredibly important modern full-back. To be honest, many at Old Trafford believed Williams would overtake Shaw as No.1 lefty this season. But the England defender is also looking the part since Jose Mourinho motivated him unfairly but tangibly.

Therefore, why would Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side want to buy another left-back? Especially when you are aware that the pricetag for Chilwell will be at least £60 million, per The Sun. A fee could eventually be as high as £85m.

What’s next for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell?

So, the Leicester player suits Manchester City and Chelsea, who are both allegedly unhappy with their options: Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko – at Etihad Stadium. Whilst Marcos Alonso along with Emerson Palmieri are out-of-favour at Stamford Bridge.

FoL envisage the move to Frank Lampard’s outfit as the most likely switch; the boss is a known fan. We all know Chilwell also has friends in their camp.
