Leicester transfer target won’t join Foxes from Arsenal
If Ben Chilwell leaves Leicester City and signs for Chelsea or Manchester City, it will cause a domino effect. Though Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney is unavailable.
Pep Guardiola is supposedly a big fan of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, along with admirer and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard. Manchester City may need a more consistent left-sided defender, but the Blues definitely do. If Chilwell joins either club, then the Foxes will most likely look for a replacement.
Quite a few players have been touted by the media as appropriate, available or of interest to Brendan Rodgers as potentially suitable. Although nothing concrete is yet confirmed with regards to Leicester targets or Chilwell departing.
Nicolas Tagliafico of Ajax is apparently one defensive man the King Power club fancy. Foxes of Leicester reported yesterday that Manchester United also allegedly want Chilwell in their ranks. That story, which seemed unlikely, was bolstered by the claim that regular starter Luke Shaw is unwanted at Old Trafford.
In a hypothetical position in Foxes’ recruitment department, this writer would accept a high cash offer plus Shaw. Or, even better, Brandon Williams as well as a fee. Either could potentially improve on Chilwell’s attacking influence and defensive capabilities, while commanding less value than the Fox.
Another left-back who would have been ideal for Leicester City and was linked with a transfer to Filbert Way, was Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney. Unfortunately he is unavailable, as Gunners boss Mikel Arteta emphatically told reporters that the Scottish international is not for sale, saying: “he is not going anywhere“.
