Constant question irritates Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers
Following another dreadful result, accelerate by awful play and incorrect substitutions, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers became annoyed with a question.
Every single Leicester City fan assumed striker Kelechi Iheanacho was injured before half-time in the match between the Foxes and Bournemouth. If not, the manoeuvre was a particularly negative one which derailed Leicester City’s progress, lead, and ultimately their defeat.
Since the demoralising 4-1 loss to the second worst team in the entire Premier League, Rodgers labelled the performance as lacking spirit, along with divulging that ‘harsh words’ were said afterwards in the Leicester dressing room.
In reality, the Northern Irishman should be eagerly and doggedly deconstructing and overanalysing his own in-game tactical shortcomings.
Kelechi Iheanacho question upsets Leicester City boss
After the game versus the Cherries, Rodgers naturally went on the defensive as he was asked about the capitulation of his side. Nobody has witnessed such incompetence from the squad, succeeding his appointment.
Rodgers’ responses were fair and honest, but his reasoning for Iheanacho’s withdrawal at the interval seemed unreasonable: suggesting the Nigerian wasn’t playing well when he was vibrant and involved. The 23-year-old’s touch isn’t always great but he is the King Power outfit’s brightest spark at present.
With regards to link-up play, the former Manchester City hitman even surpasses legendary attacker Jamie Vardy in that area; although vardy is always more focused on goalscoring.
At the pre-Sheffield United press conference, Rodgers was asked again about Iheanacho’s early exit. This time the manager appeared annoyed by the constant questioning, saying:
"“Last week I was told we had the most impact from subs. A week later, I’m too negative. I made the change and primarily throughout the season, Kel has been an impact player for us. It wasn’t necessarily a negative substitution. I’ll go on the feel of the game. I’ll continue to analyse games as I do.”– Brendan Rodgers"
