Ben Chilwell transfer request expected at Leicester

According to reports, Leicester City are apparently due to receive defender Ben Chilwell’s imminent transfer request as he eyes Chelsea move.

I can assure anyone reading this article that the vast majority of Leicester City supporters want a resolution to Ben Chilwell’s drawn out transfer saga.

Many seem happy for the club to allow the defender to leave Filbert Way; while a minority of Foxes fans are of the opinion that the team is better off with the England international in the side. With Luke Thomas’ excellent emergence, that final point is up for debate.

Thomas has only put two feet wrong in three matches for Leicester, those mistakes were punished swiftly by Tottenham Hotspur. Although, that is a severe learning curve. Brendan Rodgers will hope his promising starlet will heed those errors and become better as well as more reliable from it.

To be fair, the 19-year-old showed composure against world-class Spurs and Manchester United wingers. Holding his own isn’t enough justice: overall, the former Leicester Development Squad member was undoubtedly one of City’s attacking threats in those games. Focus and calmness are fine attributes of the youthful player.

Leicester City should expect transfer request

According to Tuesday’s Mirror, Chilwell will hand in a transfer request at King Power Stadium this week. Apparently the 23-year-old wants to join Chelsea and become Frank Lampard’s No.3 at Stamford Bridge.

Reportedly, Chilwell also desires to be first choice England left-back; he is thought to believe there is more chance of solidifying this at the London club.
