Bid expected for Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho from abroad
Leicester City certainly don’t need to sell any more players before they start signing attacking ones – but that scenario is likely.
At the risk of contradicting myself, I do condone the sale of Kelechi Iheanacho this summer. That is if Leicester City sign an even more competent goalscorer before he leaves.
Many English Premier League fans will be under the impression that the Nigeria international was one of the only Foxes players putting in successive decent performances. And that Iheanacho shouldn’t have been substituted early so often.
Both of those assertions are correct, in my opinion: he should have been starting more regularly as other team-mates floundered in the restart. Brendan Rodgers’ lacking plan B was actually under his nose in plain sight for all to see. Meanwhile, the Northern Irishman kept his arguably failing system in place or switched to a fairly drastic 3-man defence.
Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho is wanted
Back to my original point, despite all that positivity, Iheanacho often makes the wrong decision in the final third. There are also occasions where his finishing leaves something to be desired.
Yet if he stayed on Filbert Way, I would still be content. Especially with the extra competition of Europa League adding to the workload. Nevertheless, the club should be aiming a bit higher in their pursuit for an eventual successor to Jamie Vardy.
Why this is under discussion, is that the 23-year-old is reportedly wanted by Newcastle United. And now Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce will apparently make an imminent offer.
