Chelsea to sign Leicester’s Ben Chilwell for world record fee?
With rumours of Ben Chilwell clearing out his Leicester City locker, Chelsea have apparently made a breakthrough agreement to sign the player.
At long, long last, Leicester City player Ben Chilwell should be granted his much publicised, reported wish for a transfer. He will be moving to Chelsea, say multiple stories.
If the 23-year-old does eventually depart, Foxes fans will of course wish him well. Although there is a swelling feeling that the defender is ripe for an overpriced sale, following a strangely underwhelming showing this season.
Frank Lampard, manager of the Blues, has apparently had Chilwell at the top of his potential signing wishlist for a while. There are other targets of the Pensioners but the Fox always appeared to be strongly admired by Lampard, according to experts and hearsay.
Latest on Leicester City transfer saga
On Friday there were two major developments which became supposed news: one was a fairly well followed, as well as usually reliable Leicester Twitter account claiming that the player had ‘packed his bags’ at the Belvoir Drive training facility. Essentially meaning he has cleared his locker out in preparation for a move. However, at this time that is simply speculation.
Afterwards, The Times claimed that a “breakthrough” had been made with regard to the two clubs agreeing a price for the England international.
If Foxes of Leicester must give an estimate on the proposed switch, it does now seem as though a deal will be announced next week. The outlet suggests that the amount ultimately paid could be a world record fee for a left-back.
