The Dwight McNeil deal may not even happen for Leicester
Burnley are already playing hard ball in the media in anticipation of impending bids for their star players. Will Leicester City be able to secure the services of Dwight McNeil?
When will Leicester City announce their first signing of summer 2020? Good question. The answer is probably not before they’ve sold one of their most high profile players, in Ben Chilwell.
I’m sure you’re all aware that Chilwell is the subject of interest from Chelsea, and apparently Manchester United. A “breakthrough” is said to have now been made with regards to the Blues’ negotiations over an agreement for the England left-back. The upcoming week will likely prove pivotal in that potential deal.
There is a chance Dwight McNeil won’t join Leicester City
If Chilwell is sold, the money earned will supposedly be added to the rather low reported amount that Leicester have in their transfer fund. Which could be as relatively insignificant as £20 million.
To sign Burnley’s Dwight McNeil – thought to be fancied by the King Power side – may require a huge bid of £50m, as opposed to the previously reported fee of £30m.
LancsLive says that Burnley are confident of retaining their starlet, presumably that is because they plan to price Brendan Rodgers’ team out. Some suggest that the Clarets have accepted an offer, but this expert disagrees.
Foxes of Leicester ultimately envisions a stalemate as the most likely outcome at this late stage. However, despite Leicester’s penchant for carefully deliberating over potential deals for what seems like an eternity, they have made some significant last minute buys, too. Though those purchases are not always the most sagacious of signings.
