With the 2020/21 Premier League season only two weeks away, and a trip to West Bromwich Albion first up for Leicester City, FoL assesses all injury issues.

There is a definite dilemma for Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers at present: only two senior centre-backs are fit and are yet to form a Premier League partnership together, they are Filip Benkovic and Caglar Soyuncu. Many believe the duo must begin against West Brom.

This issue could and probably should have been solved by a much needed incoming new centre-half. However, absolutely no transfers have been made by the Foxes, let alone a starting or back-up defender for that role.

Bartosz Kapustka left for Poland with Legia Warsaw; while Ben Chilwell’s well publicised deal to Chelsea was also completed. Therefore the lack of two first choice quality wingers and a left-back deficiency have been highlighted once again.

Hopefully Rodgers will demand a new player from recruitment via the hierarchy in all three of the named positions – marquee or otherwise. Unless this occurs, Leicester can only expect a mid-table finish – especially with the Europa League to contend with. A competition which further illuminates the necessity for signings on Filbert Way.

Leicester City’s current injuries

On Saturday in the goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday, captain Wes Morgan picked up an injury that will be assessed via a scan before the first premiership outing versus the Baggies.

Morgan is now added to the list which includes the unavailable Ricardo Pereira as well as veteran Christian Fuchs. James Maddison hasn’t been given a return date, but the manager will be praying his star is fit for September 13.

Leicester will play only one more preseason friendly before beginning the next league term. Blackburn Rovers have been confirmed for a trip to King Power Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5.
