Following a disappointing attacking display from Leicester City’s peripheral personnel against Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers confirmed funds aren’t available to strengthen.

To say that Leicester City are in need of extra strength in depth would be a severe understatement. If the club’s staff believe the squad is good enough to challenge for the Europa League, a fourth place Premier League finish and a cup run or triumph – they are very much mistaken.

Obviously Arsenal knocked the Foxes out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Elimination was sort of expected by many, especially after seeing the starting eleven that Brendan Rodgers selected.

Yes, it’s a lovely gesture to want inadequate players such as Daniel Amartey, Demarai Gray and even Hamza Choudhury to succeed. But sentimentality and unsatisfactory back-up will cost Rodgers eventually.

Why Leicester can’t sign more special players

Though that scenario is not really the Northern Irishman’s fault: owners King Power are obviously taking a terrible hit to profits with their Duty Free business affected as much as any, on account of coronavirus. Of course the outfit would have liked to reinforce their roster further this summer.

Unfortunately Rodgers confirmed that Leicester won’t be signing a striker during the off-season. Subsequent to the underwhelming 2-0 defeat by the Gunners, the gaffer said the Foxes are “limited” with regards to funds and options. Suggesting that the club has fewer resources than others, the boss says they will make do with the forward-thinking athletes already on Filbert Way.
