James Tarkowski interested in Leicester move as offer increased
Telegraph Sport suggest Leicester City have improved their offer to over £30 million for James Tarkowski, and the defender is interested in a switch.
According to trustworthy Telegraph journalist John Percy, Leicester City have upped their bid for Burnley centre-half James Tarkowski. Percy says the new offer is over £30 million – which Foxes of Leicester supposes will equal the amount West Ham United put forward – while the Clarets are said to value their player at £50m.
With the coronavirus-hit transfer market, Burnley are never going to witness that valuation realised. If a club pays that price, I’ll eat my hat. It’s not that Tarkowski isn’t worthy of a large fee, or that FoL doesn’t rate him: but the England international isn’t one of the world’s best, only they command those extortionate pricetags.
Leicester City options
With Jonny Evans now back from suspension and expected to partner Caglar Soyuncu against Manchester City on Sunday for the Foxes, another centre-back as back-up is still mandatory for Brendan Rodgers’ roster.
Evans has just completed a three-match ban, and has been passed fit by his manager. Although the Northern Irish defender is now into the final year of his contract.
When asked about Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana being another target, Rodgers confirmed they want someone in that role. However, the manager claimed the East Midlands team do not have enough funds to secure another striker.
Leicester travel to Manchester for the Citizens clash on Sunday. Hopefully Pep Guardiola’s injury issues will facilitate three points for the King Power side. Meanwhile the Foxes will be without Wilfred Ndidi.
