Wesley Fofana medical update, Leicester defender may be part of deal
The news has spread that Wesley Fofana’s medical is complete, but a Leicester City defender may be part of the expected deal with Saint-Etienne.
Wesley Fofana is an imminent signing for Leicester City, one that is especially required. Brendan Rodgers needs a new centre-back for his Foxes team, and everyone knows it. Preferably one good and young enough to be developed and takeover from Jonny Evans long-term. That’s the hope anyway.
Caglar Soyuncu and Evans have a harmonious footballing relationship, actually complementing one another in most areas. Similarities are often shunned in a centre-half pairing; yet the duo only differs with the Turk’s age and slight pace advantage, contrasted by the Northern Irishman’s timing and experience.
Wesley Fofana completes Leicester City medical
Fofana does appear to fit the aforementioned criteria necessary to bolster the already buoyant and brilliant Leicester squad.
Thankfully it was reported on Thursday that the Frenchman passed his medical with the Foxes. That test was was undertaken in Germany on Wednesday, thought to be the same place Timothy Castagne did his. Expect Fofana to be confirmed by the King Power club at any moment
Filip Benkovic may be part of the deal
One aspect of the transfer which could cause it to be delayed, is the apparent inclusion of Leicester defender Filip Benkovic in the deal. The Croat is thought to have been offered to St-Etienne in a ‘loan with an option to buy‘ capacity.
Harvey Barnes has earned a maiden call-up to a senior England squad, we also learned on Thursday. Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate said Barnes offers unique width and has been doing so for two years. Furthermore, the manager added that the winger was excellent on the counterattack versus Manchester City in the East Midlanders’ recent 5-2 victory over the Citizens.
