Foxes of Leicester has learned of the reason why out-of-favour Leicester City wingman Demarai Gray was not sold, despite being for sale.

Let’s not get too bogged down as to why Demarai Gray wasfor all intents and purposes, for sale. Effectively, if a decent bid or a request for a loan emerged, Leicester City would have accepted – plain and simple.

Gray is, as I’ve said before, actually one of the more talented and naturally gifted athletes in the Foxes squad.

Yet for reasons such as, arguably, having too much too soon, not yearning to be a superstar or a mainstay at a wonderful club like Leicester through work ethic or prioritising improvement and growth, the Birmingham-born player is somewhat in the footballing wilderness.

Why Leicester City kept Demarai Gray

It even felt as though the rumoured, possibly created, phony story about Tottenham Hotspur being seriously interested in signing Gray may have bolstered his already seemingly inflated ego and misguided opinion of his own status.

Another club credited with fancying a move for the winger was newly promoted Leeds United. Now, that would’ve been a great switch for the Englishman: a team with an astute and demanding manager; a side on the up; and a roster which would’ve given him increased opportunities in the starting eleven.

However, the unfortunate and rather sad reason Gray will remain a Fox until at least January – unless Championship clubs or maybe a Portuguese outfit make an unlikely approach – is that absolutely no bids actually came in. With his deal up in June, this is now awkward for Brendan Rodgers, who’s made it clear that the former merely has a squad role.

Leicester face a resurgent and much strengthened Aston Villa in their next league match, after the international break. Villa are a top half EPL contender, in my opinion. So, no easy games, as FoL always says. In the meantime, England ridiculously play Wales, Belgium and Denmark in the space of six days; this seems incredibly negligent by the FA and FIFA etc.
