Brendan Rodgers asked if Jamie Vardy is fit for Leicester vs. Arsenal
After the Zorya Luhansk Europa League win, Brendan Rodgers was asked if Jamie Vardy will play for Leicester City against Arsenal on Sunday in the Premier League.
Two assists and a goal for Kelechi Iheanacho, a James Maddison finish on his European debut, three netted, a clean sheet, Harvey Barnes as clinical as any top striker – for an evening – Leicester City sure have a lot to be happy about from the initial Europa League clash.
Brendan Rodgers was wise enough to resist fielding a heavily or mildly weakened Foxes starting line-up; Zorya Luhansk were not of Premier League standard, although it would have been managerial suicide to play a back-up team and lose. Therefore an almost perfect scoreline and performance transpired.
Next up for the East Midlands side is Arsenal in the English top-flight; the game is at the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium and will, as usual, be a hard-fought contest. In fact, Leicester haven’t won at an Arsenal ground – including Highbury – since 1973.
Is Jamie Vardy fit for Leicester City
After the UEL victory, Rodgers was asked if Jamie Vardy will be fit for the match in London, this is what the gaffer said:
"“We’re thinking that he will be available, but we just need to confirm that over the next couple of days. He’s responded really well to treatment and he’s been out on the grass”"
Elsewhere in Leicester news, Wesley Fofana has been surprisingly exceptional in both of his appearances. Firstly in the loss to West Ham United, secondly in the defeat of Zorya. Apparently Kolo Toure – one of Rodgers‘ coaching staff, as well as being a former top centre-back – is going to assist in the development of the young centre-half. Additionally, former Foxes boss and Fofana’s previous manager at Saint-Etienne, Claude Puel, believes the 19 year old can become one of the world’s best defenders.
