Arsenal v Leicester: Gunners’ injuries, predicted starting line-up
Leicester City travel to London to play Arsenal this weekend, with a chance to establish themselves as serious top-six contenders. But how will the Gunners line-up?
On Sunday, Leicester City play Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. It’s been 47 years since the Foxes won away at their grounds, which obviously includes the time at the Gunners’ former home, Highbury.
Brendan Rodgers would be wise to consider bombarding Arsenal, who still have defensive frailties. Although the Northern Irishman has many problems at present. Ricardo Pereira is unavailable until December; Wilfred Ndidi may be sidelined for Christmas; and Caglar Soyuncu might not be back before the new year. Worrying times, indeed.
However, the Foxes expect to welcome club legend Jamie Vardy into the matchday squad. Notably, it was revealed this week just how prolific a striker the former England man is. As you can see below, Vardy is almost unplayable overall.
Predicted Arsenal line-up for Leicester City clash
It is fair to say that the Gunners also have a few current injuries, too. Rob Holding, Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos and Willian are all on the recovery list. Though some, like the latter Brazilian, may be fit for this fixture.
Therefore, thanks to football.london, Foxes of Leicester can predict Arsenal’s starting line-up:
Bernd Leno; Kieran Tierney, David Luiz, Gabriel; Hector Bellerin, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Ainsley Maitland-Niles; Willian, Bukayo Saka; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Rodgers also spoke recently of how his roster is struggling with match preparation due to coronavirus, as per Daily Mail. He believes restrictions because of COVID-19 have affected focus for athletes, understandably. The boss says they have to concentrate on other matters – presumably health and prevention related – rather than solely on football. Yet that didn’t stop his side beating Zorya Luhansk 3-0 in their Europa League opener.
