Kasper Schmeichel spoke to media in a pre-match presser ahead of the AEK Athens win. The goalkeeper hailed the club’s late chairman.

This week has been a particularly tough one for Leicester City: two difficult games, firstly against Arsenal in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium, as well as a a Europa League clash versus AEK Athens in Greece. All under the pressure of it marking two years since beloved former chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha passed away tragically.

Khun Vichai, as he is fondly known by the Blue Army, is sadly missed in Leicestershire. And, from what I’ve been told and seen written by opposition fans, is resected by the entire league contingent.

That is partly because the Thai businessman was able to grant an unfathomable wish to Leicester City Football Club – lifting the Premier League trophy. Obviously the footballing fairytale did not go unnoticed by opponents and their loyal faithful, who also dream with optimism of having such a great man in change of their clubs one day.

Another reason that Srivaddhanaprabha commands so much admiration, is that he was a generous soul. Foxes supporters weren’t the only people to benefit from generosity from the philanthropist, who also donated millions to hospital charities.

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has praised the man they call “The Boss” on Filbert Way, as per Leicestershire Live:

"“Everything at Leicester City is because of him. He built the modern Leicester City. His family are part of that legacy. We have communication with them and we hope to make them proud by performing well in Europe and the Premier League.”"

Hot. Ricardo should be back for this game. light

Elsewhere in Leicester updates, it’s Leeds United away at Elland Road next for the currently highflying Foxes. Marcelo Bielsa’s men are winning matches and plaudits much like their onetime Championship rivals Sheffield United did in the top-flight last season. Hopefully Brendan Rodgers is reverting to as strong a side as possible for this one – expect fireworks on the pitch.
