This is amazing news for Leicester City: Ricardo Pereira may be returning to the Foxes side very soon, following a nasty injury.

Leicester City made it two victories from two fixtures in the Europa League on Thursday night. Greek club AEK Athens were the latest team on the receiving end of the Foxes’ stride to Group G glory.

Manager Brendan Rodgers was forced to make a lot of changes to his favoured starting line-up, due to a hectic schedule as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. There are also mounting injury issues on Filbert Way – Caglar Soyuncu, Ricardo Pereira and Wilfred Ndidi most notably – but hopefully good news is on the horizon.

Just as certain supporters – quite a few, actually – started to become despondent and disillusioned from the sheer amount of issues that Leicester City have endured, something extremely encouragingly is revealed.

After the Athens clash, Rodgers gave a fairly detailed update on his star defenders: Timothy Castagne, Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira.

While Evans will be assessed prior to the Leeds United match in the Premier League on Monday evening, Castagne is sidelined for up to a trio of outings. The gaffer seemed confident that the Belgian will make his comeback after the international break. He’ll miss Leeds, Braga in the UEL and Wolverhampton Wanderers back in the top-flight.

The Northern Irish centre-back will be sorely missed. Cover for him and Castagne is lacking: with James Justin, Christian Fuchs, as well as Luke Thomas thankfully available.

Ricardo, as you can read on BBC Sport’s above tweet, will hopefully be fit for selection by the time national duty ends. That could mean the right-back and Leicester favourite is ready to face league champions Liverpool at Anfield on November 21.
