There are many understudies currently enjoying a starring role at Leicester City. Thankfully, that situation is coming to an end.

Leicester City have been catapulted back down to earth by a well-drilled, capable, but weaken and beatable Liverpool eleven. Jurgen Klopp’s shrewd personnel decisions, set-up and strategy seemed to force the Foxes to play to their own shortcomings, essentially.

The severely disappointing aspect for many of the open minded and realistic fans of the King power outfit, was that this was a winnable match. In which, it appeared as though some players such as James Maddison were suffering from fitness, focus or sheer determination issues. Nucleus athletes like the playmaker must be on the ball as an operative element in all of Leicester’s attacks. He was not.

Additionally, certain members of today’s also injury hit Foxes line-up aren’t up to scratch, to be frank. Not for the heights that Brendan Rodgers aspires to. Believe me, those few players I am about to mention are committed, along with being decent squad options – however, that is all. At present, at least!

These Leicester City understudies will be phased out now

If Rodgers does another preferable u-turn and admits that every boss does in fact need to know their best XI, then he’ll be omitting a few players for subsequent crucial fixtures. Yes, in this most peculiar of seasons there is more of a place for rotation. Nevertheless, that tactic should be measured, not compulsory.

James Justin has all the skills to eventually be a starter for Leicester – although, he is not ready at the moment. That was evident versus the Reds. Marc Albrighton gave 100 per cent – though that alone is simply not adequate at this level. Ricardo Pereira and Timothy Castagne will replace those two. Christian Fuchs is one reason why Rodgers’ men went on a six-game winning streak – but Caglar Soyuncu will dislodge the veteran.
