Enormous boost for Leicester as star player to return next week
Leicester City have received an enormous boost as star player Wilfred Ndidi is to return to action next week, after a long injury absence.
I’m telling you: Wilfred Ndidi won’t walk back into the first eleven at Leicester City, after Papy Mendy’s superb work since the Nigerian’s sustained an injury. Oh, actually, Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers said not too long ago that contemporary teams don’t need or have best XIs anymore.
Well, that is inaccurate: all coaches must work towards knowing their most efficient starting lineup for games of the utmost significance – it’s obvious! However, I have a very strong feeling that the Northern Irishman’s words were misunderstood or misconstrued. What he most likely meant is: in this amazingly messed up time on earth with coronavirus causing global havoc and misery, football sides will need to rotate their personnel in order to maintain fitness and avoid more players being unavailable.

Back to Ndidi, what I meant earlier was that he now has proper competition for his place from Mendy. The Nigeria man had a monopoly on the role, which he now does not, regardless of his formerly incredible play. Ndidi is fit again and expected to play a part in next week’s Europa League clash with Zorya Luhansk, according to Rodgers. This information comes via BBC Sport.
Other players with long-term issues have been discussed by the boss recently, Turkish centre-back Caglar Soyuncu will hopefully return for the senior side by Christmas, as will Ricardo Pereira. Meanwhile, it appears Timothy Castagne’s hamstring problem flared up again so his status is unknown, although he has only missed four outings. The Belgian is sorely missed, too.
