According to Brendan Rodgers, a Leicester City player is set to leave the Foxes after rejecting a new contract. What’s next for Demarai Gray?

Demarai Gray has not played for Leicester in the Premier League this season. That still sounds a bit shocking, to be honest. He was also omitted from the Europa League squad before any games were played in Group G.

It’s not that us keen Blue Army faithful didn’t see those choices coming from Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers. Yet some of us still feel as though Gray has something to offer – though rarely exhibits his many talents.

Being surplus to requirements won’t be at all comfortable to the winger – not that it would to anyone, especially elite professional athletes – who, as a supposed flair player, will be very confident in his own ability. Therefore it has been likely that he’ll leave the King Power side for a while now.

Sky Sports quote Rodgers as saying it is clear that Gray is angling to leave, and that Leicester’s manager believes a “fresh start” suits the Birmingham-born man most.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Jose Mourinho is a known fan of Gray’s, who’ll be available for free in the summer. Hopefully stars such as Harvey Barnes will step up with added consistency in their team-mates absence.

Brighton & Hove Albion are the upcoming visitors to King Power Stadium in the English top-flight. Currently the Seagulls sit 16th in the division, just outside of the relegation places; whereas Leicester are presently fourth. Home EPL fixtures have been the toughest obstacle for Rodgers to overcome in his Foxes tenure; with three losses in four attempts in their recent run. Overly methodical play must be switched for fluency and directness with invention and ideas if this hurdle is to be cleared.
