Leicester City centre-back Filip Benkovic is currently on loan at Championship outfit Cardiff City. Will the Croatian return to Filbert Way in 2021?

Unfortunately a subsequently injury-plagued loan with Bristol City and a disappointing contemporary period at Cardiff City have transpired, where he scored a 3/10 on his debut from WalesOnline. With Cardiff fans said to have watched ‘through fingers covering their eyes’.

Nevertheless, it is likely Benkovic will receive a chance under Rodgers at some point. My guess is summer pre-season 2021; the 23-year-old’s temporary deal expires at the end of this campaign, if the Bluebirds don’t decide to terminate it early.

Despite centre-backs wearing thin at Leicester presently, Rodgers says he wants the player to find his form from their time together north of the border.

Steve Bruce’s side will in no way be a pushover – but no Premier League outfit really are. It is feasible that Rodgers will revert to his preeminent, starting eleven for the Magpies clash. However, the boss also recently said that it is unnecessary to have a ‘best XI’ in the contemporary era – so who really knows or can predict what the gaffer has up his sleeve?
