Will Leicester make any signings during transfer window?
When asked if Leicester City will make any signings during the January transfer window, Brendan Rodgers gave pretty definitive answers and reasoning.
With the impressive roster currently operating at King Power Stadium, it’s rather a surprise that some of the Leicester City fan base are calling for signings or requesting information on the quest for fresh faces.
However, supporters are well-informed and prudent these days: much of the talk is of a future successor to legendary goalscorer Jamie Vardy, now age-34.
Unfortunately for the Blue Army members hoping for some Foxes transfer business, it appears very unlikely that Leicester will welcome anyone new during the January window.
Manager of the King Power side, Brendan Rodgers, had his say on the matter when prompted by media. The boss claims it is more likely that there will be outgoings as opposed to incomings; Demarai Gray is obviously one.
Furthermore, when asked outright if City will buy anyone this month, Rodgers said this:
"“I don’t believe so. It’s something that we’ve looked at.“If there’s something that we think could really help us and improve us, then the club will always look at it. But I don’t think there will be anybody coming in for the sake of it.”– Brendan RodgersVia Leicestershire Live"
With Vardy now sidelined for just under a month and Dennis Praet also out, who knows what decisions will be made on Filbert Way.
Leicester City assessing prospects
In addition to these insights, the Northern Irishman also confirmed that the club is constantly engaged in the scouting of targets. With regard to Vardy, the east Midlands side have been looking at prospective strikers to eventually takeover from the former England hitman.
Rodgers said that “of course” the club is looking ahead, as per Sky Sports. And that discussion is not just about Vardy’s position but assessments of evey player in the squad. How refreshing to hear of Rodgers and his staff’s diligence, patience and foresight. Though, it was to be expected in all honesty.
