Leicester determined to make new signing in the next week
There is apparently a concerted effort to make a signing on Filbert Way. Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the club wants an attacking midfielder from the January transfer market.
Dennis Praet’s injury has completely derailed the Foxes‘ plan which Brendan Rodgers first outlined to the press. That stance was literally to not sign anyone at all this month.
How things change so quickly in football; reason 127 of why having any public position on an issue or objective is futile. I mean, as a sports analyst I’m happy that last statement isn’t the case – but why do Premier League gaffers even truthfully answer transfer questions about their intent, for multiple reasons?Ambiguity is the way forward here.
Enough digression, on to the matter at hand.
Leicester City determined for new signing this week
Leicestershire Live quotes the Northern Irishman as saying the King Power club will “push hard” to acquire a forward-thinking midfield man in the final week of the transfer window.
"“For a period of time, we’ve known the type we would want. We’ve had a few players on the list. We have a number of targets, but it’s just about the availability of those at this stage of the season.“I would love to get another attacking midfield player… If we can get someone in, great, if not, we’ll just have to wait until the summer.”Via LCFC Live"
At the time of writing, we are one day away from a major Premier League match with deep implications. Leicester travel to Everton for a crunch contest with the Toffees; why this is an extra crucial clash is that both teams are in the ascendancy, as well as having world-class bosses. Whichever side wins could eventually claim Champions League qualification while finishing above their rival for European football.
