Foxes of Leicester details the things to know about Leicester City transfer target Tommaso Pobega, a midfielder currently owned by AC Milan.

Recently, FoL published a piece outlining Leicester City’s summer transfer business plans, with regards to the Foxes signing some more attack-minded options. You can read the piece by clicking here. Within the article, Akash Roy explains who Brendan Rodgers and his recruitment team were targeting; along with specifying the two targets as a striker and an attacking midfielder with sources.

With Dennis Praet injured – I know he’s not really that forward-thinking, yet is more so than other personnel choices of Papy Mendy and Hamza Choudhury – the Northern Irishman at the helm on Filbert Way is known to have wanted to secure a central competitor in January. And it would have been one who could create and score.

However, Rodgers said only the correct potential incoming player would be signed: meaning the King Power outfit was never going to waste money on an overpriced available athlete. Nothing materialised. Nonetheless, the Foxes are linked with another ‘inbetweener’: with respect to the player being neither particularly defensive or specifically offensive. Simultaneously the person in question is still a possible gem for the future in the centre of the park.

First of all, at this stage the connection between Leicester to Tommaso Pobega is mere speculation. Although the rumour has been picked up by English press after originating in Italy. Pobega is an Italian midfielder owned by AC Milan though currently on loan at Spezia, also of Serie A.

As I previously noted, the 21-year-old is definitely a decent prospect but is only as productive in front of goal as Praet. Pobega also does not yet add anything more to contemporary assets in his position – unless understudies are injured. The latter does have vision and a confidence to replicate what a Youri Tielemans achieves if the Milan man’s game develops.

While playing as a loanee, Pobega is catching the eye; he would be a good signing this summer – but is not a marquee addition. It would be a good incoming buy alongside a notable centre-forward in the mould of Jamie Vardy, in addition to signing an attacking-midfielder ideally already accomplished in the Premier League, La Liga or Italy’s top-flight.
