Leicester City are apparently about to take steps to keep a star from Manchester United’s and Liverpool’s clutches. Harvey Barnes has been superb this season.

That’s right, two huge clubs are said to be monitoring the winger. And, if they actually are doing so, the reports from their scouts will be extremely favourable to Barnes after a wonderful breakout season. Last year the Foxes academy graduate was good – this campaign he is quite simply deadly.

Mirror Sport reports that the King Power side has begun talks with Barnes, which are now at “advanced” stages, in order to scare away Man United and Liverpool.

If you asked me whether the wingman would end up at one of those jugganaughts just over 12 months ago, my statement would have been something like ‘Barnes will be lucky to still be playing for the Foxes’. That was following very raw displays and some poor finishing.

Happily for the Blue Army, he proved me wrong. Foxes of Leicester always knew there was a gem in there somewhere, it’s just how well the rock could be polished – Brendan Rodgers deserves some credit in that respect.

Leicester City injuries before Arsenal game

Evidently, Leicester are currently enduring a tough time of it fitness-wise. At least six first team members are unavailable for the vital clash with Arsenal, including some important starters and significant players: Wesley Fofana, James Justin, James Maddison, Dennis Praet and Ayoze Perez.

In contemporary times, the east Midlands side are expected to defeat the Gunners, as they did earlier in the campaign at Emirates Stadium. Yet this is a perfect opportunity for Mikel Arteta’s team to gain victory with injuries galore on Filbert Way. But many big clubs have succumbed to Rodgers’ outfit, especially in 2020/21, so Arteta’s men should not underestimate Leicester at all. There are plenty of Foxes who can still cause problems, such as Barnes and Jamie Vardy.
