Leicester City are apparently having to keep an eye on the Sporting Club De Portugal manager Rúben Amorim as an exigency plan if Brendan Rodgers chooses to leave.

Brendan Rodgers recently celebrated his two year anniversary as the manager of Leicester City after leaving Celtic in February 2019. He has undoubtedly been phenomenal in the job, earning praises from fans and critics alike. Even more so, now especially due to the fact of a prolonged injury crisis that has managed to cripple the King Power club constantly this season.

Despite all the odds stacked against him, Rodgers still has administered the team to stay within the top four of the Premier League. Currently, Leicester sit in third place below the Manchester United and Man City, and five points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea.

This impressive feat would be far more standout if the Northern Irishman continues to prove his visionary management skills despite all the predicaments. A top-four or even a top-six finish would make the man highly sought after. He may even be designated for poaching by the highly decorated big clubs with bigger wallets.

Who plans to poach Leicester City manager?

Daniel Levy, the ambitious chairman of Tottenham, spared no expense when the club invested in building the state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which became the largest domestic ground in London, following demolition of the White Hart Lane complex. Levy was quick to sack former Spurs and current PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino, when he failed to deliver promising results that season. In spite of reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League and eventually losing the title to Liverpool in the previous season.

Levy once again shocked the football world when he brought the infamous manager, José Mourinho, on board to take charge of the club. Everyone knows Mourinho as the “chosen one” and he has managed to win silverware throughout his career with all the clubs he’s managed. However, those expectations weren’t met this time around with the Lilywhites.

Despite adding sustainable reinforcements into their squad from Real Madrid, the team has underachieved this season. Currently sitting in the eighth position in the league, there are considerations that it might not be fruitful to continue with the Portuguese and miss out on a Champions League spot in two successive seasons. Some reports suggest that Daniel Levy could try to interest Rodgers in such a move if Spurs don’t see any noticeable result from their current manager.

Knowing about the alternative: Rúben Amorim

Amorim has managed two Portuguese giants of the Primeira Liga: Braga from December 2019 till March 2020, and then Sporting CP onwards. Regardless of his tender age as a manager, he has already bagged silverware, winning Taça da Liga, with both the previously mentioned clubs.

The manager has an impressive 76.92% & 72.50% win percentage record by winning a total of 39 matches in 53 games. Sporting paid €10 million to acquire Amorim’s services in spite of having only two months of top-flight experience, which made Amorim attain the third-highest transfer fee for a manager in history. That certainly tells something of the man’s calibre. Furthermore out of his 40 games in charge of Sporting CP, the club has a record of 29 wins, seven draws, along with four losses.

light. Trending. Significant injury boost for LCFC before Burnley

Rodgers has put the whole world on notice with this work at Leicester, and rightfully so clubs are interested and could try to steal him from the Foxes. If that happens, there should be someone to take the charge of the ship immediately. The people of the East Midlands love and respect the Northern Irishman immensely, only time will tell if heartbreak is impending.
