Leicester City are apparently monitoring Ismail Jakobs of Cologne and Mikkel Damsgaard of Sampdoria as potential summer signings.

You’ll be pleased to be informed that Leicester still want to sign a left-sided fullback/winger. Some will say, ‘but what about James Justin, Timothy Castagne and even Luke Thomas?!’, a fair question but one with an appropriate answer.

Well those who have a keen sense of the demands of a top six side will understand my point: with Justin probably not returning until October or November time – it is a very similar deal to the awful injury and exact recovery time period as with Ricardo Pereira in 2020 – exceptional cover is necessary. Brendan Rodgers prefers Castagne on the right; while Thomas just isn’t ready for Premier League football, yet.

Therefore the potential signing of Cologne’s Academy graduate, as per Daily Mail, is a welcome one by Foxes of Leicester. 21 year old Jakobs is similar to the aforementioned Foxes fullbacks in positional and speed sense, though possibly even more attacking. He is also described as having a great work ethic whilst impressing in the Bundesliga. In addition to being nominated for the division’s Young Player of the Year award alongside such talent as Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund.

Leicester City monitor Mikkel Damsgaard

Another player that the King Power outfit are supposedly tracking is Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria. That is according to HITC. Funnily enough, as I’m sure much of our readership is already aware, the Italians are currently managed by legendary Leicester manager, Claudio Ranieri. Damsgaard is a great prospect, especially if you ask Ranieri!

Although, the specialist left-winger occupies Harvey Barnes’ role, as well, and the Englishman will probably return this season. That means Barnes will again be gunning for a top spot statistically amongst the other prominent Premier League wingmen in the next campaign. Yet it is still very wise to constantly have replacements, understudies and future stars on the roster. Other significant English top-flight sides such as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are also said to be interested in acquiring the Dane.
