Leicester City reconsider transfer move for striker in summer window
Leicester City are apparently reconsidering a transfer move for a striker they’ve been monitoring. Will Odsonne Edouard be signed in the summer window?
I’m sure everyone reading this piece is aware that the Foxes are, or were, keen on the Frenchman. Anyone who’s read Leicester gossip in the last year would not have been able to avoid the speculation surrounding the Celtic striker and the east Midlands team.
Now, with the hitman up in the Scottish Premier League currently unable to match his goal tallies of previous campaigns, talk states Brendan Rodgers’ side’s interest in Edouard has waned slightly.
However, the forward is experiencing difficulty in the division alongside Celtic, who have not managed to replicate their usual success in recent years by lifting the SPL trophy. Their local rivals Rangers now have the bragging rights north of the border.
While the Hoops struggle, it is unfair to judge Edouard on one mediocre term; in 2019/20, for example, the forward supplied 29 goal involvements in 27 outings, whilst this season he’s still produced 19 overall in 26 appearances.
Many people believe Edouard can perform to Premier League standards, in spite of the EPL being so much more competitive than its British relative. Nevertheless, it feels as though the player certainly deserves that chance; which English top-flight club takes a chance on France’s Under-21 star remains to be seen.
Leicester City now uninterested in target?
Eurosport confirmed recently that the King Power outfit has been eyeing Edouard as an eventual Jamie Vardy replacement. Yet they also claim no other clubs in England fancy a move for the former.
Although, Caught Offside expands on the previously mentioned publication’s point, suggesting the Foxes have also “cooled their interest” in Edouard after an “underwhelming” 2020/21 for Celtic. Kelechi Iheanacho’s form will arguably decide this matter!
