Leicester City are said to have had a bid rejected for a youthful striker who is nicknamed the ‘next Zlatan’ Ibrahimovic. Here are the details.

Does the Blue Army want the ‘next Zlatan’ on Filbert Way – sure. What club wouldn’t want one of the most talented players or an athlete similar to one of football’s greatest ever forward’s?! And Ibrahimovic is just that; if you disagree, merely see his overhead goal against England, part of a miraculous hat-trick.

Nevertheless, this article isn’t about the Swedish icon. This piece concerns Wahidullah “Wahid” Faghir. He is a 17-year-old Danish striker currently playing for Superliga club Vejle BK, in Denmark. According to a verified Wikipedia source, Wahid Faghir grew up in that country after his parents fled from Taliban-dominated Afghanistan.

Incidentally, Ibrahimovic’s Father moved from Bijeljina, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to provide a better life for his family, too.

Playing style and Leicester City transfer rumour

As previously mentioned, Faghir is a striker; his nickname of ‘next Zlatan’ appears to have originated from Vejle youth coach Steen Thychosen, who was clearly massively impressed with the then Under-17 starlet:

"“There is a bit of ‘Zlatan’ [Ibrahimovic] about him, because he performs with an indomitable self-confidence for training and fighting. You can not see that he is only 15 years old and played the first league matches already last autumn.”"

The “fighting” element always pleases Foxes fans, and supporters of Premier League sides in general, as the English top-flight is notoriously physically competitive. This season the Dane has produced five goals and one assist in 20 senior starts (two as substitute).

The Boot Room carries speculation from The Sunday Mirror suggesting that the Foxes had a £1 million bid declined by De Røde (The Reds). But are now joined in pursuit by Dutch club Ajax, as well as EPL side Tottenham Hotspur.
