Leicester City beating Arsenal, Liverpool in race for summer signing
It’ll certainly be a type of transfer coup if Leicester City can beat Arsenal and Liverpool in race to the summer signing of Odsonne Edouard.
The chase for the prolific Celtic striker was always going to develop into a saga, especially if football tabloids got their way and developed speculation and gossip. Along with the player being sought-after.
That talk ramped up lately with Liverpool and Arsenal joining the Foxes in an apparent race for the Frenchman. Brendan Rodgers had a good relationship with the player whilst managing the Hoops, which is a further encouraging factor.
Now a report from Goal’s Arsenal correspondent, Charles Watts, claims the King Power club are beating their Premier League rivals to the target, as per Leicestershire Live.
"“From what I am hearing suggests that Leicester are the frontrunners for that one”– Charles Watts"
Another big match for Leicester City
Next up for the east Midlands outfit is Manchester City, and we all know how devastating an attacking side the Citizens can be under Pep Guardiola. However, Leicester will be confident that their newly minted three centre-back system will be able to cope with Man City stars such as Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and ex-Fox Riyad Mahrez.
Another aspect which can sort of be seen as a boost or a glimmer of hope, is that Leicester defeated Guardiola’s team 5-2 at their home ground, Etihad Stadium, in the earlier part of this season. While three penalties did the majority of the damage for Rodgers’ side, the Foxes were good value for a win, with a rope-a-dope philosophy in place.
Jamie Vardy scored a hat-trick, meanwhile Youri Tielemans also bagged a successful spot kick. There was also a fine finish from English playmaker James Maddison.
