On Thursday it was announced that supporters will return for Leicester City’s FA Cup semi-final versus Southampton – so why are Foxes unhappy?

I would have bet quite a bit of money yesterday that the selection of the test event for spectators’ return would have been Chelsea against Manchester City. But it wasn’t… it was Leicester and Southampton’s semi-final.

Small victories are often accompanied by a swift knock back down to the ground. That is exactly what the Foxes and Saints support received directly afterward the declaration.

Unhappy Leicester City supporters

Basically, members of the Blue Army – and presumably the St. Mary’s faithful – feel dejected due to Football Association bosses thinking it right to disallow fans from either team to attend the game. Instead allowing locals from the surrounding Wembley area the 4,000 allocation.

Below are some tweets we’ve gathered from #LCFC Twitter; along with some responses to an honest but possibly misjudged reply to the news from Leicester attacker Ayoze Perez.

Clearly the faithfuls of both teams are dissatisfied at the FA’s very odd decision.

It’s bad news for fans of the clubs; maybe a lottery for Foxes and Saints would have been the fairest and cleverest way to fill the seats.

Sadness, dismay and annoyance filled the east Midlands outfit‘s social media space.

This commenter on Sky Sports‘ account believes it may be VIPs such as dignitaries, press officers and corporate sponsors who will be the people to take places at the Home of Football. Furthermore, if neither the Blue Army nor their counterparts from the south coast were allowed to attend, the tickets could have gone to Key Workers. And what a lovely idea that was – FA take note!

Hopefully common sense will prevail in future, as this choice is baffling; I get the distancing protocol but it’s still daft seeming, not to mention insensitive of diehard fans – whose clubs mean everything to them.
