Leicester City might be able to acquire a solid midfielder in the form of Naby Keïta. Liverpool are said to be ready to take a drastic £22.5 million loss for the deal.

Fresh reports from Football Insider are rushing in with the recent speculation that Liverpool will let the Guinea international star leave this summer at a reduced price tag of £30m. Keïta has come to terms that the Reds intend to reduce the midfielders price tag to achieve a quick sell. They want to generate rapid funds for some reinforcements, apparently.

Keïta’s situation at Anfield-

It is no secret that Keïta has struggled to find a satisfactory role under the manager Jürgen Klopp. After his £52.5m transfer from RB Leipzig in 2018, he has only started a total of 32 games for the Reds in the Premier League. Despite displaying a fond footballing skillset, he has been left way behind in the pecking order.

The 26-year-old was Liverpool’s third most expensive signing, and thus far, he has struggled due to his injury problems. The descend in his prominence along with his contemporary valuation is justified at this point. Now was the Guinean’s last chance to make an impression in a red shirt; yet despite the recent injury crisis at the club, the situation did not reward him any newer minutes.

Leicester City’s interest-

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers wants to capitalize on this eventual fallout. The gaffer is said to be an admirer of the central midfielder’s ball quality, attributes and energy. It will be a relatively safer option for the Foxes to invest in a player with Premier League experience, rather than hunting players from uncharted territories.

Liverpool have tasted both the Premier League and the Champion League silverware, thus they are expected to gather the funds soon after a domestic catastrophe by utilizing the transfer market to get rid of the players who are not part of their plans. That doesn’t necessarily mean these players are not desirable by any means.

Is the price tag good enough for Leicester City to proceed?

A price tag of £30m is quite right for the quality that you can potentially extract from this player. At only 26 years, Keïta is yet to reach the prime of his career. The only tricky part will be to trust him with consistency, which he has failed to achieve in three seasons at Anfield. As an analyst second and an LCFC fan first, I think this transfer has the most potential of being a reality. A long list of names have been on the club’s radar, but this recent one changes the ballgame.
