How the latest young Leicester star won promotion to the first team

This is how the latest young Leicester City starlet managed to gain his promotion to the Foxes first team recently. The story of Thanawat Suengchitthawon’s rise.

The LCFC production line of talent isn’t ceasing at the moment, with the likes of Ben Chilwell being sold for a rich price to Chelsea, Harvey Barnes becoming a full international, and Luke Thomas making his presence felt with the senior players. Now there is Thanawat Suengchitthawon, who big things are expected from.

Born in Suphan Buri, Thailand, Suengchitthawon was raised as a boy France. Nancy’s academy picked him up for their Under-13 team and the lad never looked back; he graduated to the reserves but was wasn’t offered professional terms and left for England.

Leicester signed the five-feet-six-inches France U-21 man in summer 2020, and he’s impressed manager Brendan Rodgers since receiving a call to play with the elders. Suengchitthawon is attack-minded and is predominantly fielded in central midfield, yet he can be deployed on either wing, as well.

Subsequent to naming the 21-year-old on the substitute’s bench for the disappointing defeat to Manchester City, Rodgers spoke about his newest addition to the first team in glowing terms:

Another honour for Leicester City’s emerging star

Following his official Premier League Player of the Month award for March, Kelechi Iheanacho has also been nominated for the Professional Football Association’s accolade after his displays at the same time. And the PFA also selected former King Power man Riyad Mahrez, who is now at Man City.

Iheanacho’s stunning form – five goals in three EPL matches – was rewarded by the club, too, as the Nigeria international signed a new three-year deal to remain on Filbert Way until 2024. Although, since he penned the fresh contract, Iheanacho failed to score for Nigeria or Leicester upon his return from duty with the Nigerians. Nevertheless, the fans will continue to back their emerging cult hero.
