Leicester City Transfers: Price of signing Boubakary Soumaré revealed
By Akash Roy
Leicester City is extremely close to complete its first signing of the summer in Boubakary Soumaré. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano sheds some light on the subject.
The Foxes are on the verge of signing the young talented LOSC Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumaré. The Frenchman’s name was associated with Leicester City for the longest period. The youngster plays as a defensive midfielder but is also adaptable in a box-to-box central midfielder role.
City is well known for its spectacular recruitment policy, and this time they have again managed to do the same by bargaining the transfer fee down to €23m from the previously speculated €30m. Lille is on the top of Ligue 1, separated by just one point from the second-placed PSG. The fight for the title in Ligue 1 remains to be decided on the final day of the season.
Soumaré has been motivated to join the East Midlands side by leaving his country behind. It shows the overall growth and the pulling power of the Leicester City football club. We are third in the Premier League, and Lille is on the brink of winning the title, still, their starlet desires to play for our badge which is an extremely prideful moment for us.
The 22-year-old has been drawing comparisons from the pundits who claim to see an amalgamation of N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba, two of the best French exports in the Premier League, in him. If the midfield becomes the strongest asset for the Foxes, you can expect to see a very robust kind of football from next season.
Brendan Rodgers will surely face a bit of difficulty in selecting from a talented pool of midfielders. Players like Nampalys Mendy and Hamza Choudhury could be loaned out next season for players like Soumaré and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall bearing the torch.
